A speed painting that came about by accident as I was practicing, in between work. It's a picture of what appears to be a power plant, spilling out toxic waste. Unfortunately there is little demand for mood paintings like these in the professional game development world, as small companies see this kind of work as a costly luxury and larger companies tend to skip this process, wanting only 45 degree line drawings with no color and often no value shading at all. "If the 3d modelers can't model the image accurately, there is no point doing the image in the first place". So, when we see world professionals giving tutorials on speed/mood paintings, it's actually a skill that is simply being phased out. To earn a living as a concept artist, it's the line drawings and 3d character work that is in demand. This means avoiding entire scenes and instead drawing each individual element instead using crisp line work.
I love how you did the color tones too.
