Facility Security by JamesLedgerConcepts Facility Security by JamesLedgerConcepts
This image is a personal project, so doesn't belong to anyone else, i.e. a client. The full license for this image is 20 ($30).

My first attempt at a character design. All done in Photoshop, using default brushes and some customized texture brushes for surfaces.
He is a futuristic security guard, intent on keeping out intruders. He shoots to kill and takes no prisoners. A humanoid with limited intelligence - the organization keeps tabs on all it's security, making sure they never question their authority or gain outside interests or hobbies. Brain implants are used to prevent curiosity or creative interests developing. No organization wants their staff to be anything more than what is necessary, after all.

To create a similar image would take 2 days (including revisions). The cost would be 200 ($320).

Brain implants can still be circumvented. Just saying...

Also things with limited intelligence can be easily tricked too.

It is not that hard really.

Good point - I am attempting to alter my own implants as we speak, bloody government popped them in when I was a baby. Time to get rid of them I think!:)

Why not try a silicon phase disrupter?
There should be one in the basement areas which I have secretly set up shop in since this place was completed. Every sublevel is my squatters rights property.

This nifty little device will vaporize any type of microchip implant inside the body without damaging the body itself. In fact you can set the range to cover the entire facility. Remove all the implants at once.

How I remained undetected, well take a wild guess.

This is a bloody good idea. I wasn't aware!
Gonna look into getting one on Amazon. Great tip!

Now I can free my entire neighborhood and see them finally wake up.

Well like I said, there should be one in the lower levels in the facility you are in. Those levels are my secret research facility.

The security code to open the blast doors that secure the lower levels is: KGAGDF783LJ63929JGDSVA730

I have also given you a valid ID to get you inside. Just get in there and head for sub level 7 and the device and it's plans are located in room 7-4A Security code to access room is: 04031965

My security forces guard this area so just tell them who you are and they will leave you alone.

Excellent - I got the plans no problem. I decided i needed to keep some back-ups, so I posted the plans on facebook and google in case my computer explodes.

Got it. I also found them and mirrored them in a supermax data canter run by my resistance forces. No one has ever made it past the front gates of this facility alive.

And not only that, I have the plans mirrored on data centers in off site neutral territories too.

Nice work, especially on the light and shadows! Your character has a good pose, too. Overall, I'd say you get your point across nicely, that of a futuristic security guard. This scene definitely tells that story :)

Woah man, looks awesome and especially for the first attempt at character design! Also the lighting and shadows look believeable to my opinion, wish I could draw like that some day:)

Thanks Lag - he was tricky as I had no practice at doing people. I am finally getting down to learning some anatomy from a book. In the professional world there is more work for character designers than environments, so I MUST get it sorted!

Yw :)
Ahaa I see man, I will get anatomy lessons this school which starts in a week. I realy look forward to it because I want to be able to draw characters aswell, and currently, that is my weakest point.

It is good to know that the characters in the real world (as I call it) have more jobs to offer then anything else, and I also heard that from other students which were at an internship last year, that anatomy and characters are realy important.

Well good luck with the anatomy book, but again you are well on your way!

Lens flare is always a nice thing to have! It's good because you didn't overdo it either. Too much and you become Mass Effect! XD

The guard is well done too. He clearly isn't military but he's nobody you want to mess with either, although it has a deep and evil secret behind the seemingly docile exterior.

Excellent comment - thanks 000!
Yes, lens flares are REALLY easy to overdo if not careful. I used to do that when I started out and was quickly informed to NOT do it any more!

And here I was thinking it was supposed to be from Star Trek because of the lens flare, lol.

Great work, I think going with watching through a security camera as opposed to just having a regular picture of the character was very clever.

Thanks LD - I had to try and spice it up as it was too clean and slick - selling it as one of many posters at a sci fi convention this weekend and I thought I could make use of older images.

Pretty neat. Seems pretty corrupt and stuff, this security figure...

The idea reminds me of Syndicate, although I have not played the game or anything.

Good work. I like the lighting.
